Honolulu
This design was influenced by my relocation from Melbourne in 1996 to
the warm, seaside location of Noosa, Queensland.
I was inspired to paint a Tropical & typical 'Day at the Beach' scene .
Originally I painted large acrylics on canvas for my 'Sun,Sea,Style' inaugural exhibition in Noosa
Feb'97, followed by a series of Watercolours the same year for the
Stephanie Hoppen Gallery in Knightsbridge, London.
Whilst in London I met with the charming Monsiuer Patrick Frey of the world-reknowned
French Textile House, Pierre Frey Fabrics, who commissioned me to translate my
Day at the Beach theme into a fabric design for him. The fabric HONOLULU was
launched by Pierre Frey Fabrics in 2001, in 2 colourways, and is now available worldwide through
Interior Decorators and Designer Fabric Showrooms.
